BOB's Home Repair Story

It begins with a partnership between Spring of Life Community Church and Bear One’s Burden a limited liability company. Bear One’s Burden was formed as an entertainment content YouTube channel while undertaking projects that no one else wanted or could take on. However, as the founders began to know their neighbors and the community, they saw a need. At first, they did not know what the name Bear One’s Burden was going to represent, but now it is clear through their calling.

BOB’s Home Repair has been operational since July 2023. It is offering small repairs while creating partnerships alongside churches, fundraisers, sponsors, government grants, nonprofit and support agencies throughout five (Huron, Lapeer, Sanilac, St. Clair, and Tuscola) counties. The project is currently offering 16 labor hours per week.

HOME REPAIR MINISTRIES
Mission

Through the project, we carry each other's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2)

Vision

The Home Repair Ministries helps with minor to critical home repairs and modifications to low-income widows, single mothers, elderly, and disabled veterans. It provides the efforts needed to make homes accessible for disabled veterans and make needed home modifications so seniors can age in place and remain safe and live independent longer.

What We Do

Bear One's Burden also offers Home Repair Project Management through the mutual self-help housing technical assistance grant. This program provides technical and supervisory assistance to families. We assist with recruiting families, help them complete loan applications and carry out other related activities that enable them to participate in the program.

Under Section 504, we help the elderly (over 62) to obtain up to $10,000 grant and make repairs involving health and safety hazards. We can also assist individuals in obtaining a 20 year loan of up to $40,000. The program allows for the grant and loan to be combined for up to a total of $50,000.
